Set a minimum order value

Set the smallest cart total a customer must reach before they can place a delivery order.

Published June 2, 2026

A minimum order value stops a delivery going out for less than it's worth. In MenuDock this is the Delivery basket setting: the smallest cart total a customer can reach before they're allowed to place a delivery order. This article shows where to set it and how it's checked at checkout.

The minimum applies to delivery only. Collection orders have no minimum, so a customer picking up can order a single coffee. The setting also lives per location, so each branch can have its own figure.

Where to set it

The minimum only shows once Delivery is enabled in your order types. If you can't see it, turn Delivery on first — see Collection and delivery.

  1. In the sidebar, open Settings → Ordering.
  2. Scroll to Delivery basket.
  3. In Minimum order (£), type the figure in your store's currency. Entering 0 means no minimum.
  4. Press Save changes.

How it's enforced

The minimum is checked against the value of the items in the cart, before any delivery fee is added. A customer choosing delivery whose items come to less than your minimum can't move on to payment: they see a message telling them the minimum, for example "Minimum order for delivery is £15.00", and the basket prompts them to add more.

The same check runs again on our server when the order is submitted, so the minimum can't be slipped past by editing the page. A customer who switches from delivery to collection isn't held to it, since the minimum is a delivery rule only.

Choosing a figure

Set it to cover your delivery costs and make the trip worthwhile. Many kitchens land somewhere between £10 and £20. Too high and you turn away small orders; too low and a driver goes out for next to nothing. Start with a figure that covers your delivery fee plus a reasonable order, then adjust once you see how orders come in.

If you'd rather not set one at all, leave it at 0. Delivery still works, with no floor on the order value.

If customers say they're blocked from delivery on orders that look big enough, remember the check is on the items total only and ignores the delivery fee — so the items alone must clear the minimum.
