Collection and delivery

Enable Collection and Delivery, and what each one changes for the customer at checkout.

Published June 2, 2026

MenuDock supports two ways for a customer to receive an order: Collection, where they pick up from your premises, and Delivery, where you take it to their address. You decide which ones your storefront offers. This article shows where to set them and what changes for the customer at checkout.

You set order types per location, so if you run more than one branch, one site can offer delivery while another stays collection-only.

Where to set it

  1. In the sidebar, open Settings → Ordering.
  2. If you run more than one branch, check the location name in the section header (for example "Ordering configuration — Camden") and use the location selector in the top bar to switch branch.
  3. Find the Order types section at the top.

The Ordering Settings page showing the Order types section, with Collection and Delivery each listed with a description and a toggle on the right.

Turn a type on or off

Each type has a toggle on the right:

  • Collection — "Customers pick up from your location".
  • Delivery — "Customers receive orders at their address".

Flip a toggle to enable or disable it, then press Save changes.

At least one order type has to stay on. If only one is enabled, its toggle is locked so you can't switch off every way of ordering by accident. Hover it and you'll see "At least one order type must remain enabled".

What changes for the customer

The types you enable decide what the customer picks on your storefront before they reach payment.

  • With both on, the customer chooses Collection or Delivery at the start of checkout.
  • With Collection only, every order is for pickup and no address is asked for.
  • With Delivery only, the customer always enters a delivery address.

Turning Delivery on unlocks two more sections further down the Ordering page: Delivery basket (a minimum order value for delivery) and Delivery zones (where you deliver and what you charge). Those only appear while Delivery is enabled, because they don't apply to collection. With Delivery off they stay hidden.

A delivery customer also has to pass your zone check before they can pay. If their postcode falls outside every zone you've set, they're told you don't deliver there and are nudged towards collection instead. See Delivery zones and fees for how that works.

When to change this

  • Collection only suits a café or takeaway where customers come to the counter.
  • Delivery only suits a kitchen that never has walk-ins.
  • Both is the usual setup and gives customers the choice.

You can change this whenever you like. A common pattern is to switch Delivery off for a busy evening so the kitchen only handles collection, then turn it back on later.
