Sometimes you need to stop taking orders for a bit. The kitchen is swamped, you're closing early, or there's a problem out front. The MenuDock app lets you close a branch to new online orders from your phone, with an optional message that tells customers why.
This is a temporary pause, separate from your regular opening hours. It's set per branch, so closing one doesn't touch the others.
Open or close a location
- Open the Settings tab from the bottom navigation.
- Tap Restaurant Status. The screen is titled Location Status and shows the name of the branch you're currently working on.
- Tap Open or Closed. The change applies straight away.

While a branch is Closed, customers can't place new online orders with it. Set it back to Open when you're ready to take orders again.
Add a closure message
When you switch a branch to Closed, a message field appears below the buttons. Type a short line for customers, for example "Back at 5pm" or "Closed for a private event today", then tap the update icon to save it. Customers see this message when they try to order, so keep it clear about when you'll be back.
If you don't write anything, the branch still closes. The message is there to explain, not required.
Per branch, not the whole business
Each branch has its own open or closed state. If you run more than one, check the branch name at the top of the screen before you flip the switch, and use the branch selector in the app bar to move to another one. Closing your high-street branch leaves your other sites taking orders as normal.
When to change this
- Close a branch when the kitchen can't keep up, then reopen once you've caught up.
- Use it for an unplanned early finish, a staff shortage, or a one-off closure.
- For your normal weekly pattern (the hours you're open on each day), don't use this. Set those once in the web admin and the storefront follows them automatically. See Opening hours.
A temporary close is meant to be flipped back. If you find a branch stuck closed when you expect it to be taking orders, this screen is the first place to check.

If customers say they can't order but you think you're open, check this screen for the branch in question, and check it's the right branch in the app bar. Confirm your opening hours in the web admin too. Still stuck? Email support@menudock.co.uk with your store name.
