Opening hours and temporary closure

Set weekly opening hours, use temporary closure to pause orders, and see what customers get when you’re closed.

Published June 2, 2026

Your opening hours tell MenuDock when your store accepts orders. Outside those hours the storefront shows a "we're closed" banner. This article covers setting your hours per day, the separate "temporarily close" switch, and exactly what customers see when you're shut.

Set your hours

  1. In the sidebar, open Settings → Opening Hours.
  2. You'll see a row for each day of the week, Monday through Sunday.
  3. For each day, use the toggle to mark it Open or Closed. When a day is open, set the opening and closing time in the two time fields.
  4. Press Save changes in the action bar at the bottom of the page.

Hours are set per branch. If you run more than one location, switch the active branch with the location selector in the top bar, then set that branch's hours; the heading shows which branch you're editing.

What customers see when you're closed

When the current time falls outside your hours, customers can still browse the full menu. A banner appears below the header letting them know you're shut, for example "We're currently closed. Opens tomorrow at 11:00." If scheduled orders are switched on, the banner adds "Pre-order now for later." and they can place an order for a future slot. If scheduled orders are off, ordering is paused until you next open.

Temporarily close the store

Below the weekly hours there's a separate Temporary Closure card. Use it to pause your storefront without touching your regular hours, for example during a private event, a kitchen problem, or a sudden rush you need to clear.

  1. Turn on Temporarily close storefront.
  2. Optionally type a Closure message shown to customers, such as "We're closed for a private event. Back tomorrow at 11am." If you leave it blank, customers see a generic closed message.
  3. Press Save changes.

While temporarily closed, the storefront shows your closure message and stops taking orders, including pre-orders. Switch the toggle back off to reopen on your normal schedule.

When to change this

  • Edit your weekly hours when your trading times change for good.
  • Use Temporary Closure for one-off, short-notice shutdowns. It's the quickest way to stop orders without rewriting your schedule, and you can do the same from the MenuDock mobile app during a service.
