Storefront layout

Pick how categories and products are arranged: Classic, Sidebar filter or Sidebar with sections.

Published June 2, 2026

The storefront layout controls how your categories and products are arranged when a customer opens your menu. MenuDock gives you three layouts to choose from, and you can switch between them at any time. This article explains what each one does so you can pick the right fit for your menu.

Choose a layout

  1. In the sidebar, open Settings → Appearance.
  2. Scroll to the Storefront layout section, under the theme gallery. Its description reads "Choose how categories and products are arranged on your storefront."
  3. Each layout has a small wireframe preview and a name. Click one to select it, then press Save changes.

The three layouts

Classic

Categories run across the top as a tab bar, with products in a single grid below. When no category tab is selected, the menu shows every category one after another as titled sections. Pick a tab to narrow the grid to that one category. This is the default and works well for shorter menus.

Sidebar filter

Categories sit in a list down the left, products on the right. Clicking a category filters the grid to show only that category's items. There's an All option at the top of the list to bring the whole menu back. Good when you have a fair number of categories and want customers to jump between them quickly.

Sidebar with sections

Categories sit down the left again, but the right side shows your full menu grouped under category headings. Clicking a category in the sidebar scrolls smoothly to that section rather than filtering. As the customer scrolls, the sidebar highlights whichever section they're currently looking at. Best for a long menu where customers like to browse the whole thing.

When to change this

  • Switch to a sidebar layout once your menu grows past a handful of categories, so customers aren't scrolling through everything.
  • Use Sidebar with sections if you want people to scan the full menu while still being able to jump to a section.
  • Stick with Classic for a tight menu where one screen does the job.

The allergen filter, sliders and the rest of your storefront work the same way under every layout, so changing the layout only rearranges the menu itself.
