Start taking payments

Connect Stripe, Square or PayPal so customers can pay you, with payouts straight to your own account.

Before customers can pay you, you need to connect a payment provider. This is one of the two required steps before your store can go live, the other being your menu. MenuDock supports Stripe, Square and PayPal, and card payments are included on every plan.

Connect a provider

In the admin panel, open Integrations. The first section is Payment provider, with a card for each option.

The Payment provider section of Integrations, with Stripe, Square and PayPal, each showing a connection status and a Connect button.

Pick the one you want and press its Connect button. MenuDock sends you to that provider to sign in and finish their onboarding:

  • Stripe opens Stripe's own onboarding to collect your business and bank details.
  • Square uses Square sign-in (OAuth) to grant MenuDock permission to take payments for you.
  • PayPal runs you through PayPal's Commerce onboarding.

In every case the provider handles the sign-in. MenuDock never sees your username or password. It stores an encrypted token and nothing more. When you come back, the provider's card shows its status.

Money from your orders is paid out directly by your provider into your own account. It does not pass through MenuDock.

Stripe verification

Stripe usually needs to verify your details before it will let you take live charges, so its card may sit at Pending verification for a short while after you finish onboarding. Use Continue onboarding if Stripe still wants information, and Refresh status to re-check once you've submitted everything. Once Stripe clears you, the step is complete and you can take payments.

Using more than one

You don't have to settle on one provider forever. You can connect several and leave them all linked. Whichever you connected last is the active one that takes payments, and switching between them is a single click.

Which one should I pick?

Any of the three lets you accept card payments with payouts straight to you, so the usual deciding factor is what you already use. If you run a Square till, connect Square. If you lean on PayPal, connect PayPal. Otherwise Stripe is a solid default. The Payment providers overview compares them in more detail.

Stuck on Pending verification for more than a day or two? That's usually Stripe waiting on a document, so open Continue onboarding and check for anything outstanding. If you're sure it's submitted, email support@menudock.co.uk with your store name and we'll look into it.
