Add a location

Add a branch and set its name, address, timezone, opening hours and status.

Published June 2, 2026

When you open a new branch, you add it as a location in MenuDock. This gives the branch its own address, contact details and storefront URL, and lets you set its hours, payment and menu separately afterwards. This article walks through adding a location and getting it ready to take orders.

Adding locations is a Business plan feature, and only the account owner can do it. If you're on Starter or Pro, or signed in as a manager, you won't see the page.

Open the Locations page

In the admin sidebar, open Operations → Locations (or go to /admin/locations). You'll see your existing branches listed with their name, slug, address, today's order count and status. A banner above the list shows how many locations your plan includes and how many you're using.

Add the location

  1. Press New location in the top right of the Locations page.
  2. Fill in the form:
Field What it does
Name The branch name, used to identify it across the admin and on its storefront. Required.
Slug The branch's URL handle (lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens). MenuDock suggests one from the name, and you can edit it. This is what routes customers to the branch. Required.
Address The branch's street address, shown on the storefront and receipts.
Postcode The branch's postcode.
Phone A contact number for that branch.
Contact email Where enquiries for that branch go.
  1. Press Create location. MenuDock saves the branch and takes you to its edit page.

Slugs have to be unique within your account, so two branches can't share one. If you pick a slug that's already taken you'll get a "location with this slug already exists" message; change it and try again.

Finish setting the branch up

The basics above get the branch created. A few things are set elsewhere once it exists:

  • Opening hours. Go to Settings → Opening Hours, point the location switcher at the new branch, and set its hours. Each branch keeps its own.
  • Payment. Connect the branch's own Stripe or Square account from Integrations, again with the switcher set to that branch. Payouts for the branch go to that account.
  • Menu differences. If a product costs more or sells out at this branch, set that on the product's Location overrides tab. See Location overrides.

Activating and deactivating

A location only takes orders while it's active. On the Locations list, the status badge doubles as a toggle: press it to deactivate or reactivate a branch. You can't deactivate your last active location, and you can't deactivate one that still has active orders. Fulfil or cancel those first.

Adding an active branch beyond your plan's included allowance affects your bill. See Extra location billing before you go over.

Need a hand?

If Create location won't go through, check the name is filled and the slug uses only lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens. A slug clash means another branch already uses it. Still stuck? Email support@menudock.co.uk with your store name and the slug you're trying to use.
