MenuDock has three plans (Starter, Pro and Business) and you can move between them whenever your restaurant changes. This article shows you where to do it, how upgrades and downgrades differ, and when each one actually takes effect.
You need to be the account owner to change the plan. Managers and other staff won't see this page.
Where to change your plan
In the admin panel, open Subscription from the left-hand menu. The top card shows your current plan, what you pay, and your renewal date.
Click Change plan. A window opens with all three plans side by side, the current one marked Current plan. Each plan lists what's included so you can see what you'd gain or lose before you commit.

The three plans, all billed monthly in pounds:
| Plan | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | £25 / month | A new restaurant taking its first online orders |
| Pro | £49 / month | Growing restaurants wanting a custom domain, theming and reporting |
| Business | £99 / month | Multiple locations or a POS connection (Square, EposNow) |
Upgrading
Pick a higher plan and the button reads Upgrade now. Upgrades happen straight away. We work out the difference for the days left in your current month and charge that prorated amount to the card on file. The moment the payment clears, the new features unlock.
If that card payment fails, nothing changes. You stay on your current plan, and we ask you to update your card and try again. You're never left half-upgraded.
Downgrading
Pick a lower plan and the button reads Switch at period end. Downgrades don't take effect immediately. You keep your current plan and all its features until the end of the month you've already paid for, then drop to the lower one on your renewal date. You don't lose anything you've paid for early, and there's no partial refund.
Because a downgrade removes features, MenuDock shows you exactly what you'll lose first.
Some of these changes affect your live data, not just which buttons are visible. A custom domain, for instance, is removed for good. Read What happens when you change plan before you confirm a downgrade.
A scheduled downgrade shows as a notice on the Subscription page: "Switching to [plan] on [date]." Changed your mind? Click Cancel scheduled change and you stay where you are.
When the change takes effect
| Direction | When it applies | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Upgrade | Immediately | Prorated charge now, then the new monthly price |
| Downgrade | End of the current period | No charge now; new lower price from the next renewal |
Managing billing and your card
Changing plan happens inside MenuDock. To update your card, see your billing email or download receipts, use Manage subscription & billing on the same page. That opens Stripe's secure billing portal in a new tab. See View your invoices and billing history.

Need a hand?
If an upgrade won't go through, the most common cause is a declined or expired card. Update it in Manage subscription & billing and try again. Still stuck? Email support@menudock.co.uk with your store name.
